Sorrel is a registered osteopath. She trained at the London School of Osteopathy, qualifying in 2002 and has been in practice for nine years.
While she runs a general practice treating back problems, neck pain, sciatica and so forth, Sorrel also specialises in the treatment of frozen shoulder and other shoulder problems. Sorrel's approach to treatment is to look for the cause of the problem wherever that may be: frequently a problem in one area (for instance the elbow) is due to dysfunction somewhere else (eg the shoulder or neck). This means that the examination and treatment will focus on your body as a whole and not just on the part that hurts. Sorrel also takes into account social and psychological factors and their impact on your health, whether it be stress at work or an unhappy situation at home. This approach is reflected also in her interest in visceral osteopathy, the treatment of the internal organs, including the stomach, liver and intestines. The internal organs are affected by both your posture and your emotional state, as well as any disease state.
In 2007 Sorrel trained as a Perrin practitioner which enabled her to offer treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, using the Perrin Techniquetm. Since then, Sorrel has treated dozens of patients suffering from CFS/ME and many have been able to resume a normal life. For further information go to the page on chronic fatigue syndrome and visit our dedicated website, www.newhopeforME.co.uk
Sorrel is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), which exists to protect you by ensuring that osteopaths meet the required professional standards. She is also a member of the British Osteopathic Association and of OPRAA, the association for visceral osteopaths. Sorrel participates in an ongoing programme of continued learning, to ensure that her skills and knowledge are kept up-to-date. She is also currently participating in a pilot of a new revalidation scheme which is being run by the GOsC. |
